HUBER+SUHNER has appointed Jürgen Walter as the new COO of the Communication segment effective 1 October 2021. As part of the company's consistent focus on the three main markets of industry, communication, and transportation, the vacancy in the Communication segment will be filled by a proven leader with a long track record in the global ICT environment.
Jürgen Walter (German national, born 1968) holds a diploma in electrical engineering from the Technical University Munich and has extensive experience in information and communication technology. He began his professional career at Siemens Management Consulting. After five years he moved on to Siemens Communications in 2000 and held various management positions in the areas of strategy and marketing. As Head of Group Strategy, he was also responsible for the integration planning for the joint venture Nokia Siemens Networks. After joining Nokia Siemens Networks in 2007, he was initially Head of Business Unit Converged Core and was then appointed Head of Business Solutions and Member of the Executive Board. From 2012, this was followed by almost four years at Fujitsu (in ICT business solutions area), where he soon became CEO Central Europe. From 2015, he was at Kathrein Group, a family-owned company and specialist for communication solutions, most recently as COO of Kathrein Group and Member of the Board of Kathrein SE. Since the acquisition of Kathrein’s Base Station Antenna business by Ericsson in 2019, Jürgen Walter has been COO of the Kathrein Mobile Communication unit within Ericsson, and Managing Director of Ericsson Antenna Technology Germany GmbH.
As of 1 October 2021, Jürgen Walter will join the then six-member Executive Group Management of HUBER+SUHNER. Until then, the Communication segment will continue to be led by CEO Urs Ryffel on an interim basis.
