With over 250,000 CPEs installed, the modular BKTEL® XON series from HUBER+SUHNER has been successfully deployed in many FTTH networks. Now, upgrading to the next level is child's play: thanks to the proven form factor of the BKTEL® XON media converter series, the conversion from P2P to XGS-PON networks can now be carried out in a single step.
This is made possible by the latest member of the XON module series, the XON3200 FTTH media converter, which complements the already proven XON1300 (available as a P2P version) as an XGS-PON ONT. If an existing network is converted from P2P to XGS-PON, the already installed XON30.W wall bracket can continue to be used. The end customer (or network operator) receives the new XON3200 module and then simply replaces it with the previous XON module. This keeps the truck roll and OPEX costs extremely low, as instead of a new FTU installation including splicing and commissioning, only one module replacement is required. This means that no on-site deployment is necessary.
Depending on the stored profile, 1 G, 2.5 G, 5 G or 10 G can be provided to the customer, whereby the XON3200 is compatible with the market-leading OLT providers. With a power consumption of just 5 watts, the XON3200 is very efficient and cost-effective, but also impresses with its performance designed for a very long service life. Furthermore, an optical TV receiver can be integrated in order to offer end customers an excellent television service via FTTH. The DVB-C signal is transported optically to the subscriber, decoupled in the XON3200 and electrically converted so that any television can be used without any problems.
The current XON3200 range includes variants with the aforementioned optical TV receiver (XON3200.SC) as well as a pure IP version (XON3200.S). The XON3200.SC is available for 1-fiber network topology (IP & TV over one fiber), but is also available as a 2-fiber model (IP & TV on separate fibers).
For over 25 years, HUBER+SUHNER has established itself as a reliable provider and supplier of products from the BKTEL® family for telecommunications technology and data conversion developed in-house and manufactured in Germany.
