Maintaining the seamless partnership

HUBER+SUHNER currently supplies cables, jumpers and antennas to Bombardier Transportation. As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to developing solutions that address the specific requirements of each customer, HUBER+SUHNER’s comprehensive range of products have been specially tailored to the needs of Bombardier Transportation.

To date, more than 20 Bombardier Transportation train types are equipped as standard with power, control and databus cables from HUBER+SUHNER, including the MOVIA metros for Delhi as well as the INNOVIA Monorail for São Paulo.

Over the years, the long-term collaboration between HUBER+SUHNER and Bombardier Transportation has continued to develop and strengthen, and together they have pushed the limits of railway technology.

HUBER+SUHNER has extensive expertise and experience in cables and cable systems and has proven this throughout its partnership with Bombardier Transportation. When Bombardier Transportation India needed a 60kg weight requirement as part of the jumper design, HUBER+SUHNER understood the customer’s needs and developed the MRVC2 jumper – an innovative cable design that included a steel rope within the composite cable.

HUBER+SUHNER designed the inter-vehicle jumper solutions to overcome major space constraints between vehicles as part of the Deep Tube Underground Project (DTUP), when HUBER+SUHNER was selected as technical partner of choice for the project. The Swiss company worked closely with electrical engineers in Western Europe and system engineers in Bombardier Transportation Rail Control Solutions (signalling) to provide a fiber backbone for Automatic Train Control. Extensive testing was carried out by HUBER+SUHNER to prove the solution.

Bombardier intends to equip existing and new rolling stock throughout the world with RADOX® EN and GKW cables. In the future, it intends that the majority of cables in Bombardier Transportation manufactured trains and metro carriages will be based on HUBER+SUHNER connectivity solutions.
