Depending on the customer’s needs, we can offer a broad selection of materials with different haptical features, wall thicknesses and colours. From a rather economic approach to a high end medical grade ePTFE, if required we can include armouring features that support strain relief, crush resistance and special reinforcements at the connector ends.
According medical norms the temperature along and around a transmission line must not exceed 43°C. H+S can integrate heat dissipating features to avoid these hotspots caused by the MW cable and distribute the temperature evenly around the tube’s circumference. Also, designs with a floated tube are possible. Thermal simulation capabilities help to approximate to the desired thermal pattern in the early phase of a project.
Typically, the transmission line has a length of 2300-3300 mm, therefore it is essential to choose a microwave cable with lowest losses to guarantee that a major part of the microwave power can be transmitted from the generator to the radiation element at the tip of the probe.
HUBER+SUHNER can serve from a broad portfolio of low-loss microwave cables for this key component, also taking other needs into account such as flexibility, diameter, weight and cost.
Traditionally, interface connectors that mate to the probe must be of miniature size to fit to/in the handle. We can provide off the shelf MCX, SMA or BMA connectors in all patterns or develop customised versions if needed.
For the connection to the MW generator we can offer a unique quick lock multi-connector that combines a compact RF connection including up to 10 pins for the DC connection. It can handle up to 250 W power (at 2.45 GHz) and it comes in straight or right angle design, for the latter with space for the potential integration of an e-prom. For the use in transmission lines we work with lower cost materials that suit for single use applications.
The counter piece, the multi-connector for the generator housing in contrary must provide multiple use feature. It mainly uses metallic components that allow mating cycles up to 10’000.
HUBER+SUHNER completes the transmission bundle with flow tubes and DC wires according customer requirements or propose ideal compositions.
